Gotan Project and their magnetic tango on the second edition of ParkLive Fest in 2010
The second edition of ParkLive Fest will take place from 18th to 20th of June under the patronage of the French Ambassador in Bulgaria, His Excellency Etienne de Poncins.
Last year we had lots of fun with the 3 day marathon with Roots Manuva, Tricky, Lamb..., the festival won thousands of fans in Bulgaria and international recognition. ParkLive Fest was nominated for "best small festival in Europe for 2009" by the prestigious UK Festival Awards and the European Festival Awards.
This year the festival team is preparing an even more stylish and unexpected selection for the fans of quality music, to strengthen ParkLive's position in the hearts of the audience. The creators of the "contemporary tango"- the french trio Gotan Project will be the festival headliners on 19th of June, arriving in Bulgaria with the kind collaboration of the French Culture Institute, Sofia. Philippe Cohen Solal, Eduardo Makaroff and Christoph H. Müller are the musicians who changed our understanding of tango.
Being inspired by the African roots of the tango and the Argentinean folklore, as well as the urban atmosphere of Buenos Aires, Gotan Project preserves the sexy voice of the tango, mixing it with electronic sound.
With their debut album La Revancha del Tango in 2001, Gotan Project moved the tango out of the dance halls and into the most fashionable clubs, becoming the favorites of the most popular DJs in Europe and America. The result is over 2 million sold copies and over 400 concerts on some of the most prestigious stages of the world.
Different, fascinating and breaking the limits of the traditional - this is the signature of Gotan Project which is encoded even in their name. Staking on the Argentinean jargon where the syllables of a word change places, the famous Tan-Go takes a new form and becomes Go-Tan.
